The Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and PowerFlex 525 Motor Control Trainer is a compact, hands-on industrial automation training system for teaching Studio 5000 PLC programming, variable-frequency-drive operation, EtherNet/IP communication, motor control, industrial wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

The open-frame desktop layout gives students clear access to the controller, drive, operator controls, protection devices, motor, and labeled training terminals. It is suitable for community colleges, technical schools, high school CTE programs, industrial maintenance courses, mechatronics laboratories, workforce development centers, and corporate technical training.

Two VFD Control Methods

Hardwired Control

The CompactLogix digital outputs can control the PowerFlex 525 through its physical control terminals. This allows students to practice conventional industrial wiring, digital I/O control, and drive-terminal configuration.

EtherNet/IP Control

The CompactLogix controller can communicate with the PowerFlex 525 through EtherNet/IP. Students can practice configuring the network connection and exchanging start/stop commands, speed references, operating status, and fault information in Studio 5000.

Designed for Hands-On Industrial Maintenance Training

Unlike simulation-only systems, this trainer uses physical industrial control components. Students can follow a complete practical workflow:

Inspect the system → identify components and terminals → program the PLC → configure the VFD → test motor operation → monitor status → diagnose faults.
